National Minimum Wage Rates

The National Minimum Wage is the minimum pay per hour almost all workers are entitled to by law.

No matter how small an employer is, they still have to pay the minimum wage.

This minimum wage rate depends on a worker’s age and if they are an apprentice.

From October 1st a new minimum wage rate has been introduced.

*This apprentice rate is for those aged 16 to 18 or anyone 19 and over who are in their first year. When an apprentice over 19 has completed the first year of their apprenticeship they are entitled to the minimum wage rate for their age.

From April 2015, a national living wage for workers aged 25 and older will be introduced at a rate of £7.20 an hour.
