Increase in National Minimum Wage Rates
The National Minimum Wage is the minimum pay per hour almost all workers are entitled to by law.
No matter how small an employer is, they still have to pay the minimum wage.
This minimum wage rate depends on a worker’s age and if they are an apprentice.
From April 1st a new National Minimum Wage and Living Wage rate will be introduced.
*This apprentice rate is for those aged 16 to 18 or anyone 19 and over who are in their first year. When an apprentice over 19 has completed the first year of their apprenticeship they are entitled to the minimum wage rate for their age.
